5 essential ways to brand yourself as a woman entrepreneur

As women, we often feel that bringing attention to oneself is a sign of bragging, of being full of
ones self or buying into your own hype.  However, branding yourself is quite the opposite.  It is
sharing information about you and your amazing company with the world and reaching out to
customers in a way that is interesting and compelling.  Branding allows you to no longer be the
“best kept secret”.  Instead, it makes you someone people want to meet and, ultimately, do
business with.

Here are five things you MUST be doing as a women entrepreneur to build and brand your business:

  • Write - think about articles you could write on what you know, what makes your company different, etc.  Get them published in professional organization newsletters, magazines, etc.
  • Nominate yourself for an award - There are tons of awards available both at the local and national level.  Look online and seek them out.  Get a friend or family member to nominate you if need be.
  • Create a web presence – You MUST have a website up and running (period.).  Writing a blog is also a great step.  You can even do things like write to the editor of online or print papers, answer questions on LinkedIn.com, etc. to begin to create a web presence.
  • Network - You must continually develop new relationships every day!  This includes something as simple as going to lunch with someone new each week.
  • Give presentations - speak to groups of all sizes, speak anywhere and everywhere people will let you.

If you are not thinking about these kinds of things, you should be!  Consumers are inundated
with information all the time; and your business can easily disappear into the noise.  Ensure this
does not happen to you!
