My very first Project Management webcast! Woo hoo! Check it out!

A few months ago, I partnered with a training company in Carlsbad, ZBGlobal, to record my very first webinar - "How to Get Started as a Project Manager - Tips and Tricks". It's basically just a bunch of my ramblings thrown together in a cohesive manner.
Take a look, and feel free post any feedback or topic ideas you would like to see. I hope to record another session in a few weeks, and I desperately want to get better and bring value to others. Any and all feedback is much appreciated! Thanks!! Woo hoo!

Erika, Great video! This is exactly where i'm at right now. Asking similar questions. This hits the spot.
Thanks!

Erika, this is a great overview with basic and specific key points for the new PM. Fantastic quality to the webcast.
Potential topic ideas for future webcasts; creating a WBS with your project team. Another might topic might be how to keep your team motivated during the project.

Erika,
Great webcast! You touched on essential topics. For future webcasts I would recommend talking about stakeholders, stakeholders analysis, and the importance of their early involvement in a project and how it becomes very costly and risky if key stakeholders are involved late in a project.
All the best!

Is planning to do project management course. Was wondering if seek onlinelearning is good ? Any idea and suggestion..

With online learning, you end up losing some of the ability to interact with an instructor and other students in a class. However, there are other benefits of taking a course in an online format. My suggestion is to check out available courses from one of PMI's Registered Education Providers (REPs). Here is a link where you can search Project Management courses and course providers: http://www.pmi.org/CareerDevelopment/Pages/Find-a-Registered-Education-Provider.aspx

I am an elementary school teacher finishing up my M.Ed. My degree will be in Management and Innovation. Rather than applying this to education, I was actually starting to consider the possibility of leaving the classroom and going into Project Management. I did a job search and saw that there ARE openings for PMs, but most say that they want 5-10 years experience.

Getting that first position as a Project Manager can be somewhat of a challenge. Most people I know have worked into a position like this within a company. To get your foot in the door, you may want to look for opportunities like Project Coordinator, etc. Also, PMI's CAPM credential may be worth looking into. It will teach you Project Management terminology and basic concepts that will be helpful when working as part of and/or leading a project team (http://www.pmi.org/PDF/pdc_capmhandbook.pdf). Best of luck to you!
